YEAR LEVEL DESCRIPTION- Students create a range of imaginative, informative and persuasive texts including imaginative retellings, reports, performances, poetry and expositions.
Judging Standards
Writing an interesting and detailed character description.
Must
Write three full sentences with correct boundary punctuation.
Use descriptive words (adjectives) to describe a character's appearance.
Should
Write four full sentences with evidence of correct boundary punctuation and possibly attempts other punctuation.
Use interesting adjectives to describe a character's appearance.
Could
Write a cohesive paragraph with a minimum of four varied sentences with correct boundary punctuation and possible attempts at other punctuation.
Use interesting and varied adjectives to describe a character's appearance and possibly their personality.
Include at least one simile which makes sense.

A character description is when you write about a character in great detail. You can write about what a character looks like, this helps the reader have a clear picture of what the character looks like. Think of it like giving clues to the reader!

Use the checklist to help you find any errors in your own work.
Must
Be able to correct your capital letters and full stops.
Must be able to use Capital letters for proper nouns (names).
Must not have capital letters in the middle of words or sentences.
Should
Check to see whether you have repeated any describing words and change them so they are different.
Check that your sentences make sense when you read them at aloud to yourself and correct them.
Could
Add in a simile if you haven't.
Check that your simile makes sense, you have compared two similar things together.
